Registry D · the spine

Every Box runs
on the same spine.

One operating pattern, 10 engines and 10 guardrails, shared by every profession in the portfolio. Build it once and a hundred products inherit the ability to show their work.

This page is generated from the architecture document inside a signed archive, not retyped from it. 371 of 371 source lines across 20 documents are accounted for — the ingest refuses to write its output if a single line goes unclassified, because a page that quietly drops a paragraph looks finished and is not. The universal operating pattern

Input goes in. Evidence comes out.

Every Box, in every profession, moves work through the same 10 stages. A newsroom and a forensic laboratory disagree about almost everything except this shape.

01 INPUT 02 EVIDENCE 03 VERIFICATION 04 CONNECTIONS 05 ANALYSIS 06 ADVERSARIAL CHECK 07 DECISION 08 ACTION 09 AUDIT TRAIL 10 LEARNING Ten stages. The sixth is the one most systems leave out.

Stage six is the load-bearing one. Most systems run input → analysis → decision. Putting an adversarial check between the analysis and the decision is what stops a confident answer from becoming an unexamined one.

The shared object model

13 objects. Nothing else is a first-class thing.

A closed object model is a refusal as much as a design. If a concept is not on this list it cannot be stored, which is how a system stays incapable of holding a conclusion it has no evidence for.

  • Case
  • Source
  • Evidence
  • Claim
  • Entity
  • Relationship
  • Event
  • Transaction
  • Decision
  • Action
  • Correction

  • Permission

The signature buttons

8 buttons that appear in every Box.

Kristen's wording, unchanged. Three of them ask the system to argue against itself, and one asks it to say what would change its mind — which is the only question in the set that cannot be answered by rhetoric.

  • SHOW ME WHY
  • SHOW ME THE SOURCE
  • WHAT’S MISSING?
  • WHAT CONTRADICTS THIS?
  • PROVE ME WRONG
  • ATTACK THIS IDEA
  • WHAT WOULD CHANGE OUR MIND?
  • WHAT HAPPENED AFTERWARD?

The five-layer ecosystem

Person, profession, organization, academy, market.

Each layer is the one below it, composed. The spine does not change as you climb.

Layer 1 PROOFCORE Layer 2 PROFESSION OS Layer 3 ORGANIZATION OS Layer 4 ACADEMY Layer 5 MARKETPLACE

The agents

13 agents, each with one job.

Named narrowly on purpose. An agent that "helps with research" cannot be held to anything; an agent whose only job is to look for disconfirming evidence can.

Research Agent

finds material.

Evidence Agent

checks provenance/sufficiency.

Claim Agent

extracts assertions and maps evidence.

Skeptic Agent

searches for disconfirming evidence.

Financial Agent

traces money.

Records Agent

manages public-record requests.

Timeline Agent

reconstructs chronology.

Entity Agent

resolves identities cautiously.

Safety Agent

protects sensitive information.

Editorial Agent

checks attribution and language.

Legal-Issue Spotter

flags issues for counsel.

Public Explainer

translates verified findings.

Evidence Judge

compares conclusions against underlying sources.

The guardrails

10 rules that outrank the product.

These are constraints, not aspirations. Several of them make the system deliberately less capable — which is the point.

  • Evidence remains the authority.
  • Keep fact, observation, allegation, inference, hypothesis and unknown distinct.
  • Never treat a graph connection as proof of wrongdoing.
  • Motive, intent, causation and liability are separate questions.
  • High-stakes legal, financial, health and forensic conclusions require qualified human review.
  • Do not generate pseudo-psychological profiles or infer protected traits.
  • Protect vulnerable sources and minors with stricter minimization.
  • Keep confidential source identities in a separate secure domain.
  • Maintain correction and version history.
  • Make evidence states accessible with text/icons, not color alone.
Two of these do the heaviest lifting. “Never treat a graph connection as proof of wrongdoing” is what separates a relationship map from an accusation. “High-stakes legal, financial, health and forensic conclusions require qualified human review” is the line that keeps every Box in the legal, markets and health suites an instrument rather than an authority.

The case room

What a professional actually sees.

Cases / Sources / Documents / Interviews / Tasks

Timeline / Evidence Graph / Document Viewer / Working Narrative

Proof / Contradictions / Missing Evidence / Confidence / Permissions / Versions

The public view

  • WATCH IT
  • READ IT
  • SHOW ME THE RECEIPTS
  • FOLLOW THE MONEY
  • SEE THE TIMELINE
  • WHO’S INVOLVED?
  • WHAT’S DISPUTED?
  • WHAT DON’T WE KNOW?
  • HELP INVESTIGATE
  • WHAT HAPPENED NEXT?

Evidence states

Seven states, and only one of them is “verified”. The other six are the honest majority of any live investigation.

  • VERIFIED
  • PARTIALLY VERIFIED
  • PRIMARY-SOURCE TESTIMONY
  • UNVERIFIED ALLEGATION
  • CONTRADICTED
  • INFERENCE
  • UNKNOWN

Watch

The spine every Box runs on

One operating pattern, the guardrails that outrank the product, and where all of it came from · 87 seconds. Every figure spoken is read from the same dataset this page is built from, and every clip was transcribed back and diffed against it.

Built on top

18 capabilities the spine makes possible.

Universal Case Room

Emails, PDFs, spreadsheets, recordings, photos, video, notes, contracts, web sources and datasets become People, Organizations, Events, Claims, Evidence, Money, Locations, Timeline, Questions, Contradictions and Tasks.

Evidence Nutrition Label

Primary sources, secondary sources, independent corroborations, contradictions, unresolved questions, freshness, AI inference and human verification.

What Would Change My Mind?

Define in advance what evidence would overturn or materially weaken the current conclusion.

Decision Time Machine

Record knowns, unknowns, assumptions and predictions, then compare them with later outcomes.

Institutional Memory
